Determine how many generations to include since there will always be limitations in terms of the size of the paper that you will be using. Most family trees would go back four generations to include their great grandparents while some would also go forward two generations to include grandchildren.
After gathering information and determining the number of generations, be sure to compile and organize all those details to make it easier for you to use it as your reference.
